That first year we sailed along, marvelling at all
the "Wonders" yet to be discovered. To plot our
course for a four year junket meant needed help.
The world of adventure through science, the
mysteries enfolded in foreign languages, the
fascination of the typewritten, the thrill of
splashing paints. All of these allurements beckoning
us the way to Hidden Treasure. Of course, it
became "Hurricane Treasure" at certain strategic
musts, charted for us by "Men far Wiser
than We" as the permanent logs {cards) will
show. The pageantry of colonial struggl~s for
national existence, the romance of Westward
expansion, the tragedy of sectional arguments,
the thrill of international prestige in leading the
world toward peaceful living-these we found
in ever increasing abundance as we sailed from
port to port toward the realm of our
"New Found World"-"Freedom's Treasure."

On deck there was opportunity of assembly
and organized activity, giving to each his
individual right to live as a free citi'zen. The dignity
of each was respected by the'Iothers as we shared
in discussing various issues, in learning the
value of well spoken language, in experiencing
the thrill of elections, responsibilities, and loyalty
to the trusts vested in us. Through such
cooperative living aboard ship we prevented
Mutiny. We made · preparation for practical
use of our long-anticipated treasure, the thrill
of being on our own-after graduation.

Our Comrades cheered us in our Sports. At times
the games tried our patience, for frequently we
worked under pressure of threatening stormsThe G I A A 3 Unit Law-but we learned how
to batten down the hatch and weather the
storm. It gave us confidence to feel real strength
develop through the trying tempests. There
was always ahead of us the lure of the championship

Frequently we found QUrselves attacked-with
or without reason-and deemed it necessary to
be prepared. That a mere T-Party could have
led to so much frustration is astounding; but it
did and we are-and so UMT, it seems. Such is
the spirit of our cadets as they drill for heavier
assignments that lie ahead. Such was the spirit of
our comrades as they studied tactics and
maneuvered their ships into deeper calmer water
where T-Parties become Tidal waves, without
too much alarm.

SHEILA
JOHN
DALY:
Features were not too plentiful because of
the seriousness of our voyage. Only those
representing quality and wholesome enjoyment
were encouraged. As with other travels, wherein
the "survival of the fittest" is part of the prize,
so was it with our crew. According to custom
in the closing days of the voyage we chose
from among our comrades those who most
highly represented the virtues of the good
"sailor." The Superlative Selectees are herein
presented for your approval. Also, we have
included further some pictured moments of
interest to. us along the way. If you have enjoyed
this Mariners' tale of fun and frolic blended
with the seriousness of a steady course, then it
is indeed gratifying to us to have given you
this f 952 Hilltop and its treasures of Pirate
Gold. As we leave the brigantines The Brewer
and The Douglass may we wish you gentle
readers of the underclasses, on your journey
